Dog health issues can be a source of concern. People worry about the health of their pets and spend time and money trying to avoid any problems. This is completely understandable to anyone who cares, and shows compassion for another. But not all health issues are a cause for concern. At least not how you may be looking at it.
Let me explain.
Many people come from a place of fear: they fear they will succumb to the next epidemic, they fear their child will come to harm if they venture out alone, they fear their dog will be affected by other dogs wandering in the park. The list is endless.
This is very disempowering. The fear rules their life. Real or imaginary,it makes no difference. Because they focus on the endless problems, it is inevitable that many of them manifest.
Fear is encouraged by many businesses. If they can make you fearful, you are more likely to buy their product. And to keep buying it. This tactic has been used for thousands of years. Today, the psychology used to persuade has reached new levels.
But one thing you do need to remember is that dogs have survived very well without any help from humans, to the present day. Not only that, but they have flourished.
Today, humans have interfered with the breeds of dogs, with their natural diet and with their health care. None of it has been to the dogs advantage. All of it has been to the human advantage, whether it is having a pet who gives unconditionally, a dog who works or whether it is profiting from sales of dog related products, all of it takes away the natural freedom of the dog.
Dog health issues begin when humans deviate from how a dog has evolved. The most common deviations are in the diet, the health care and misunderstanding the psychology of dog. The breed is less important although does have a bearing.
Let’s examine each one.
Breed.
A Jack Russell is a dog, just as a St Bernard is. They may differ in size, appearance and some qualities, but they still share the basic needs of dog.
Psychology of Dog.
A dog is a pack animal. They stress greatly when they are a lone dog or dog without a replacement pack. Dogs need to be with their pack. Keeping a dog outside, away from the family (their pack), is passive cruelty.
Pack animals have a strong pecking order. Leaders are elected on leadership qualities. Everyone knows their place. Order is automatic.
Because humans know so little about this, their behaviour totally confuses many dogs. The more equitable dogs can muddle through. But the sensitive ones suffer badly. Fear and/or aggression is often the result.
Canine Nutrition.
Many dog health issues stem from a diet that lacks their needs – either from nutrition or their habits. Commercial dog food, despite the heavy advertising, the pretty pictures and your vet’s recommendations, are only good for the manufacturer’s (and retailer’s) profit. It is far from good for your dog for a variety of reasons.
Dog Health Care.
The modern medical and veterinary health care falls badly short of supporting a healthy immunity for anyone. Their medications suppress the immune system rather than enhance it. They look at a problem in isolation rather than at the bigger picture.
There are natural and incontrovertible laws of cause and effect. When you understand this, you can let your fear go. By understanding where your dog is coming from, you have control over preventing dog health issues, whether common or rare.

1 Response to "Dog Health Issues And How To Avoid Them"
Big pharma and conventional veterinarians are largely responsible for destroying the health and lives of animals. Their main goal is making money, not the health and long life of our animals. We learned the hard way; our first pack of dogs all suffered poor health and had much shorter lives because of conventional pet raising practices. We spent thousands trying to restore their health but it never worked and never will. Since changing to natural living practices, our dogs thrive. No more vaccines, drugs, chemicals, pet foods, toxic products and all the rest that conventional medicine advises. Raw meat and bones, plenty of time out in the sunshine enjoying our yard, essential oils and homeopathy when needed have given our dogs amazing health and much longer lives, too. It’s also saved us money as they only need to see their vet for yearly blood work and a wellness exam.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with others; that’s a great blessing.
